Figures for 2025 and 2026 (to date), calculated on November 5, 2026. Two figures moving together doesn’t mean one causes the other.

Go to the Memorial Go to the Media Observatory Go to the Legislative observatory

How to read these figures

This report cross-references three Memoria y Resistencia databases: the Memorial (LGBTTTIQANB+ people murdered, disappeared or attacked), the Media Observatory (articles about the LGBTTTIQANB+ population analyzed with the Analyzer) and the Legislative observatory (proposals in congresses and what legislators say in the press).

Only years with a complete database

A year appears here only when all three databases are complete for that year. Today they are 2025 and 2026, which correspond to the current legislature. Since 2025, monitoring has been daily and each new year is added automatically; earlier years are added when the team finishes completing their information. That way no comparison mixes years with gaps.

How the data are related

  • People in the Memorial: public cases dated within the period (death, events or discovery).
  • Coverage: a person has coverage if at least one of the sources of their case is an article analyzed by the Media Observatory (from any date).
  • Articles: only articles about the LGBTTTIQANB+ population, rated and without counting copies, by publication date. The rating and features are the same ones published on each article.
  • Proposals: bills, resolutions and statements of position introduced in the period; those passed are counted by the date the full chamber passed them or they were published. Proposals against rights are counted separately.
  • Statements: only those confirmed by an official source or by two independent media outlets, by the article’s date.
  • States: each case counts in the state where it happened and each proposal in the congress where it was introduced. The federal Congress is counted separately.

Limits

Two figures moving together doesn’t mean one causes the other. The Memorial is a community record with underreporting: a state with few cases may be a state where we document less. This year’s figures will grow.
