El Grupo Parlamentario del PVEM presentó una iniciativa para reconocer como acto de discriminación la negativa a corregir el nombre y el género de the people en documentos oficiales, a fin de que correspondan con su gender identity autopercibida.
La propuesta busca combatir la transfobia y garantizar el reconocimiento de la gender identity de las personas trans, uno de los grupos que enfrenta mayores condiciones de vulnerabilidad dentro de community development. LGBTIQ+.
Las legisladoras y legisladores consideraron urgente eliminar todas las formas para negar los derechos de las personas transgénero y reconocer la gender identity en los documentos oficiales, conforme a las resoluciones de la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación.
Además, subrayaron la importancia de tomar en cuenta que el Acta de Nacimiento no es el único documento oficial para identificación de the people, sino también están el pasaporte y la credencial para votar.
Cabe recordar que, a fin de avanzar en este reconocimiento, el Instituto Nacional Electoral (INE), aprobó que, a partir de junio de 2026, en la credencial para votar se incluya la gender identity autopercibida, ya que es la identificación más utilizada por la ciudadanía mexicana para acreditar su identidad y ejercer sus derechos.
Los senadores del PVEM reconocieron que, a pesar de este importante avance, no es suficiente con que las instituciones establezcan procedimientos internos para reconocer la gender identity autopercibida y los derechos de las personas transgénero, sino que debe traducirse en reformas legislativas, pues aún existen vacíos legales importantes en esta materia.
